R2-D2 (called R2, or "Artoo" for short), is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe. R2 is one of the only four characters - the others being Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and droid companion C-3PO - to appear in all six Star Wars films.
The original R2-D2 chassis was specially created by Australian firm Petric Engineering and was precision made to a high standard with small tolerances. R2-D2 was played by Kenny Baker in five of the six Star Wars films, (though credited with appearing in Revenge of the Sith, he never filmed any scenes) with many scenes filmed using mechanical and computer-generated imagery (CGI) versions of the character.
C-3PO, nicknamed Threepio, is a fictional character from the Star Wars universe, who appears in both the original Star Wars films and the prequel trilogy. He is also a major character in the television show Star Wars: Droids, and appears frequently in the series' "Expanded Universe" of novels, comic books, and video games. C-3PO is one of the four characters to appear in all six of the Star Wars feature films, and the only character portrayed by the same actor in all six installments of the Saga. In all his various appearances, he is portrayed by Anthony Daniels.
Salacious B. Crumb is a fictional character that first appeared in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Salacious was a knee-high, potbellied creature with disheveled hair, a shrill, annoying laugh, and a sharp beak. He was employed as a court jester for the intergalactic crimelord Jabba the Hutt. In the Expanded Universe, he is referred to as a Kowakian lizard-monkey. He became part of Jabba's palace after Malakili (the rancor tamer) found him on the planet Kowak. Crumb has killed some of Jabba's slaves with the rancor. He liked to pull the lever and hear the screams of the poor Twi'leks and others that fell in.
